History of Bounce
In 2001, Medical Home Plus, Inc., (MHP) received funding from the Virginia Tobacco Settlement Foundation (VTSF) to begin implementation of Al’s Pals: Kids Making Healthy Choices program. Since then, MHP has trained and provided curriculum kits for over 400 classrooms. By training these 400 teachers over the past seven years, we have been able to teach resiliency skills to over 15,000 children in the Metro Richmond area. MHP continues to collaborate with VTSF and has been successful in securing funding from other sources, such as the United Way, the Governor's Office of Substance Abuse (GOSAP), Partnership for Families Northside, and The Cameron Foundation.
Through our parenting programs, we have worked with over 800 individuals who make an impact on the lives of children: parents, grandparents, foster parents, child care providers, and teachers, to name a few. Prevention and parent education programs remain an important function of MHP. In 2006, Bounce... Raising Resilient Children was developed to highlight our commitment to such programs with its own identity, yet continues as a program of MHP.
